Foster carers undoubtedly have one of the most important jobs in our society. We believe that the part you play in your foster child's life has the power to transform and heal in ways that no other systemic factor can. However, after working with foster carers for decades, we understand that many of you feel overwhelmed, under-resourced, undervalued and unheard.  The Hatch Project journey has highlighted the prevalence of how many carers are experiencing poorer wellbeing due to failing to have their needs met by the system. Our fundamental belief is that access to other carers, transparent information about how to manage your role, and an avenue to be heard are basic rights and needs for foster carers. That is why we have developed and delivered an online community for you, with exactly this in mind. 

This community is a place where you can go to find nurture and support on your hardest days. It's also a safe place to engage in facilitated and moderated conversations about the problems that affect you as a carer leading to helpful new ways of navigating the complex OOHC system. By joining this community you will have access to educational resources which will help you develop the professional skills required to interact with the system. You can also engage in personal growth activities tailored to foster carer challenges specifically.  Finally, by joining this community, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with other members in reimagining and building a better system for foster carers. We are achieving this by distributing information to both the general public, and the OOHC sector that challenges current narratives that exist around the foster carer role.
